Red Bull’s 2026 F1 Livery: the classy Gloss is back
If you were expecting Red Bull to suddenly turn up with a neon pink car for the 2026 season, I’ve got some bad news for you. The covers finally came off the RB22 in Detroit, and while the "same livery every year" memes are already flooding Twitter (X), there’s actually a lot more going on this time than just moving a sponsor sticker two inches to the left.
With the massive 2026 regulation changes hitting the grid, Red Bull decided to celebrate their new era with Ford by looking backward.
The Only Change: Gloss paint and little blue tweaks in livery
For years, we’ve gotten used to that flat, matte navy finish that Red Bull made famous. It looked cool under the lights of Singapore, but it started to feel a bit "samey."
For 2026, the team has gone back to its roots. The new car features a glossy finish, reminiscent of their first-ever car from 2005. It’s shiny, it’s vibrant, and honestly, it looks a lot more "premium."
Key Design Features:
The "Heritage White" Base: There’s a white outline around the iconic sun and bull logo that makes the colors pop way more than previous years.
The Ford Factor: You can’t miss the Ford logo on the engine cover. This is the first car featuring the Red Bull Ford Powertrain, marking the end of their era with Honda.
Retro Vibes: The shade of blue feels a bit brighter, almost like the team is trying to channel that early-2000s energy when they were just the "party team" on the grid.
Old Max, New Number
It’s not just the paint that’s different. The driver lineup has had a serious shake-up:
Max Verstappen is still the lead man, but he’s swapped his #1 for #3 (his favorite number) since he isn't the defending champ this year. Somewhere, Daniel Ricciardo is smiling.
Isack Hadjar has officially stepped up to the big seat, replacing Sergio Perez, who has moved over to the new Cadillac team.
What Do We Think?
Look, at first glance, it’s still a Red Bull. It’s blue, red, and yellow. But the shift to gloss and the heavy Ford branding feels like a fresh start. Whether that Ford engine actually works as good as it looks is the real question everyone is asking in the paddock.
"The gloss is cool, it’s a more retro look... I’m just not sure the mechanics will be happy about the time it’ll take to keep this clean!" — Max Verstappen
Let’s Talk Strategy
Before we get to the first race in Melbourne, I’ve got two questions for the real fans:
The Engine Gamble: Do you think the Red Bull-Ford partnership will hit the ground running, or is Max going to be screaming about "GP2 engines" by Round 3?
The Junior Step-up: Is Isack Hadjar ready for the pressure of being Max’s teammate, or are we going to see the infamous Red Bull "musical chairs" with the drivers by mid-season?
